RAF Mildenhall hosted its final Catholic mass with Archbishop Timothy Broglio, Archbishop for the Military Services, May 14.

Those who practice the Catholic faith will still have a home at RAF Lakenheath’s chapel. The Catholic mass will be hosted Sunday at 11:15 a.m. and Tuesday – Friday at 11:30 a.m.

“We must continue to be faithful and enrich the community of faith with missionary activities,” Broglio said.

The Catholic Parish falls under Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Community, and has been a part of RAF Mildenhall since 1955.

“We are sad to see an end come to our Catholic services,” said Tech. Sgt. Holly Lodin, 100th Air Refueling Wing chaplain assistant. “Although, we are sad to say goodbye, the manning is at a higher need at RAF Lakenheath.”

There will be two outgoing chaplains: Capt. Joseph Wright, Protestant parish lead chaplain and Maj. David McGuire, deputy and Catholic priest.

RAF Mildenhall will continue to host the Protestant services at 11 a.m. Sundays.
