100th OG burns piano to mark end of successful flying year, honors lost US service members
A pilot in the 100th Operations Group displays the Square D patch on his shoulder as he watches a piano burn at Royal Air Force Mildenhall, England Oct. 1, 2021. The 100th OG set fire to the piano as they followed an RAF World War II tradition to remember U.S. service members who paid the ultimate sacrifice as a result of a bomb attack at Kabul airport in Afghanistan. The event also marked the end of a successful flying and fiscal year for 2021, and the team’s hard work in getting the mission accomplished. (U.S. Air Force photo by Karen Abeyasekere)
