8/6/2012 - RAF MILDENHALL, England -- Team Mildenhall, as I'm out and about around the base, I often speak of how great the base is and how fortunate we all are to serve our country at RAF Mildenhall. Now is the time to prove to the rest of the Air Force that we are the best at what we do. Our success in the upcoming Logistics Compliance Assessment Program Inspection should demonstrate how great we truly are.
We have spent more than a month reviewing our programs, checklists and processes, refining a well-run logistics organization capable of supporting aerial refueling operations anywhere in the world.
All personnel - military and civilian - are key to a successful inspection. I want to thank all of you for your tireless efforts, hard work and determination as we have prepared for this inspection while still accomplishing our mission day in and day out.
Starting Aug. 13, a team of approximately 29 logistics experts from all around the Air Force will visit the best base in the Air Force, RAF Mildenhall! They will evaluate how we perform our mission and ensure we are performing our nation's business in a safe, standardized, and mission compliant manner.
The LCAP will use personnel evaluations and facility and equipment inspections as the basis for the entire inspection. Personnel evaluations will evaluate your job proficiency; inspections will evaluate your compliance with established standards, and rat "Pass" or "Fail".
I often stress the principles of technical data, trained, supervised (also known as TTS) and abiding by it for every task you do - all the time! Always use proper technical data, always ensure you are properly trained and always have the appropriate level of supervision. And more importantly - do it safely.
Your professionalism and dedication to excellence are on display each and every day. Let's keep the momentum going and give one final push to showcase our best efforts into this next week.
Here are some final tips to help you give a great first impression to the inspection team:
Positive attitude: Probably the single most important item; everyone should view LCAP with a positive attitude. A lot of hard work has taken place in preparation. Now it's time to show off our skills to the LCAP team.
Dress and personal appearance: The inspection is very near, so this is a good time to make sure we all follow Air Force Instruction 36-2903 Dress and Personal Appearance of Air Force Personnel in regards to things such as hair and uniform.
Trained on tasks: Make sure your training business area is current, be familiar with checklist items and rehearse your answers. Be prepared to brief unit functions, operating instructions and AFIs, governing directives and your duties and responsibilities to inspectors.
Clean work space: Your work space should be clean, neat and orderly.
Safety: In accordance with the AFI's, everyone should be wearing hearing protection when appropriate, and reflective belts or vests when and where required.
Customs and courtesies: The inspection team starts arriving Aug. 10 and may be anywhere on base. Customs and courtesies should be commonplace, but go the extra mile and make sure the inspection team knows they are welcomed and appreciated.
Pride: When an inspector arrives in your area, engage them with a positive attitude and display your talents to show-off how well trained you are.
Now it's time to shine and show the inspectors all the great work we do each and every day!
I know the professionals at RAF Mildenhall are poised and ready to perform their duties safely and by the book. Compliance is what we live by and our core values epitomize why we are the world's best Air Force.
