100th Air Refueling Wing Information Protection
10/5/2012 - RAF MILDENHALL, England -- As part of Security Awareness Month, the 100th Air Refueling Wing Information Protection office offers the following tips to Team Mildenhall members:
· Don't use the same password for everything.
o Scammers use the username and passwords they collect on other sites to gain access to personal information and potentially steal the user's identity.
· Don't click unknown links.
o Take the same precautions with social media as you would with email, particularly at work.
o You can evade getting trapped in a scam that could harmfully impact not only personal accounts, but also the stability of the Air Force information technology network.
· Watch what you post.
o Be mindful of what you decide to post on any form of social media. You never know when or how this information may be used against you as you advance in your career.
· Know your privacy settings.
o Social media sites allow you to change the privacy settings which keep certain people out, and known friends in.
· Know your contacts.
o Don't add just anyone who wants to be your friend. Make sure you know the people who are adding you as friends.
· Properly mark removable media in the workplace.
o Remember to properly mark and label all removable media including CDs, external hard drives and any storage device that is authorized.
o All authorized removal storage devices should have a classification, point of contact and contact number.
