RAF Mildenhall's 'map-makers' provide infrastructure information for command, control, base
RAF MILDENHALL, England – Senior Airman Erik Hollomon, 100th Civil Engineer Squadron Geobase flight, checks the scale on a drainage map, to ensure everything is accurate before he inputs the information into the flight’s map database April 16, 2012, at Building 680. In turn, the information helps to produce vital maps of every area on base, including buildings, electrical points, plumbing, fire hydrants and grassy areas. RAF MILDENHALL, England – Senior Airman Erik Holloman, 100th Civil Engineer Squadron Geobase flight, looks through the viewer of a total station (surveying equipment) April 16, 2012, to ensure it is lined up with the prism outside Building 680. Holloman and other geobase members use the global positioning system equipment to plot longitude and latitude, and coordinates for items such as fire hydrants or shrubs.
