Pony Club: Make friends, learn life skills

A rider takes part in a cross-country event at Soham Pony Club grounds. During rallies, riders practice the fences in preparation for cross-county and one-day events. A rider warms up her horse in preparation for a cross-country event at Soham Pony Club grounds. The time taken to warm-up varies depending on the horse. Horses prone to ‘fizz up’ such as over-enthusiastic thoroughbred types are often warmed up for longer so the horse is calmer for the event. Cob-types are steadier by nature and will need to save energy for the event, so most riders only warm-up this type of horse’s muscles, rather than try to take some energy away.
