Units

What makes today's RAF Mildenhall different from other U.S. Air Force bases is the diversity of the units assigned here.
With units from four different major commands -- Air Combat Command, Air Force Special Operations Command,
Air Mobility Command and U.S. Air Forces in Europe -- and a Navy presence, we have a wide variety of missions
occurring simultaneously. This unique relationship requires constant coordination and teamwork.
Because of this, we refer to ourselves as "Team Mildenhall."

The 100th Air Refueling Wing is RAF Mildenhall's current host wing and the only permanent U.S. air refueling wing in the European theater, activated here on February 1, 1992. After being at RAF Mildenhall for more than 40 years, the NAF was disestablished in 2005, downsized and then re-established as FISCSI Mildenhall. The mission is U.S. Navy fleet support in the United Kingdom and Northern Europe. The support includes receiving and shipping high priority parts and mail to the units within that area.
tab3rd Air Force
As USEUCOM's standing air component headquarters, 3rd Air Force plans, commands, and controls the execution of simultaneous or sequential, full spectrum air, space, and information operations in support of US objectives. The 3rd AF maintains continuous theater-wide situational awareness and provides COMUSAFE the capability to command and control assigned and attached forces. The 3rd AF is prepared to provide C/JTF, C/JFACC, and / or AFFOR core staffs to meet theater contingency requirements. Read more about 3rd Air Force history here.
