Safety Spotters: Keeping Mildenhall's roads safe

RAF MILDENHALL, England --
The safety spotter program is an initiative enacted on RAF Mildenhall and the surrounding roads to keep Airmen, their families and local nationals safe while driving. The program allows drivers to report any unsafe driving in the local area; the reported information goes to the base safety office and security forces personnel.
"The program is designed to keep us all safe; our families are driving on these same roads every day," said Master Sgt. Dominic Cilia, 100th Air Refueling Wing ground safety manager. "If you witness misconduct on the road, report it."
The program is entirely anonymous, so there is no danger of reprisal. The safety office forwards the report to the offender's first sergeant and commander, who decide the appropriate repercussion at their level.
"(People can) use the program by identifying individuals who are breaking the law or violating the commander's no passing policy by jotting down the registration plate number and filling out the information on the safety spotter page," Cilia said.

Staying vigilant and reporting traffic violations is the key to making the safety spotter program work. Keeping everyone accountable will help keep everyone safe. For more information, email the 100th ARW safety office at 100ARW.SEGV3@mildenhall.af.mil
