Joint effort successfully responds to suspicious package

Base personnel determined at approximately 7:45 p.m., July 22, 2014, that a suspicious package that had been discovered earlier today on base was non-hazardous.

After a joint effort from the 100th Civil Engineer Squadron Fire Department, the 100th Security Forces Squadron, the Ministry of Defence police, the 48th Medical Group and the RAF Lakenheath Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit, the scene was cleared. There were no injuries.

The areas that were affected by this incident have re-opened and are operating according to their normal business hours.
