While the leaves are turning that special orange that causes some people to think about pumpkin carving and sweet potato pie, creepy crawly critters are doing their part to dress the season right.

Halloween trick-or-treaters will be venturing out soon to celebrate the season's spookiest holiday. Many units have family fall festivals in the works as a safe way for children and parents to experience traditional activites such as gathering candy or enjoying hayrides.

The holiday originated from the Samhain festival celebrated among the Celts of Ireland and Great Britain. Samhain is a celebration of the end of the harvest season in Gaelic culture and is generally regarded as the Celtic New Year. Various cultures and religions have impacted how different countries and nationalites celebrate this day.
