Fire Prevention Week in full swing

Fire Prevention Week kicked off Sunday and runs until Saturday.

The 100th Civil Engineer Squadron Fire Department had activities organized and Sparky the Fire Dog visited Beck Row Primary School and the RAF Mildenhall Child Development Center Tuesday, and checked IDs at the main gate from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. Wednesday through Friday.

Sparky and his friends will also visit the youth center, work centers around base, and have a fire truck display, fire safety display and chip pan fire demonstrator at the BXtra from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, and 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

The fire dog will also visit Busy Bees nursery today, and firefighters will perform an auto extrication exercise from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Members from the Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service will bring their the smoke-house trainer to the BXtra from 2 to 4 p.m., and Sparky will visit the youth center from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Friday.

There will also be displays at the BXtra Saturday from noon to 2 p.m.
