Tee off for closer ties

RAF LAKENHEATH, England – Col. Kyle Voigt, 100th Air Refueling Wing vice commander, gathers golfers together on the first tee box at the Breckland Pines Golf Club, RAF Lakenheath, Oct. 14, 2011, to go through the rules for the inaugural British-American Committee ‘Challenge Cup.’ A ‘Ryder Cup’-style better-ball format was used for the 11 matches. Each match was between two teams of two golfers, one representing the United States and the other Great Britain. All four golfers played their own ball throughout the round, and each hole was won by the team whose individual golfer had the lowest score after handicap. The maximum handicap allowed was 18.
