From sequins to silver suits
Staff Sgt. Tait Iverson, left, 100th Civil Engineer Squadron Fire Department, fit-tests Gethin Jones, presenter of children's television show, "Blue Peter," for a respirator when he visited RAF Mildenhall Oct. 1 and 2 to film with the fire department. Fit-testing for a respirator to wear with self-contained breathing apparatus is essential to ensure a good seal on the mask. It ensures that when firefighters go into a smoke-filled environment, they won't breathe it in. Gethin had to pass the fit-test before he was allowed to don the firefighters protective gear and go near fire. (U.S. Air Force photo by Karen Abeyasekere)
