Texting, talking on phone while driving means no more ‘LOL’ing any time soon
Holding and using a cell phone or any other hand-held device for any purpose while driving -- whether texting, talking, surfing the internet or checking social media pages -- is illegal in the U.K., whether on or off base. Studies show that reaction times of drivers using cell phones were recorded as being 30 percent slower than someone who was over the drink-driving limit, and 50 percent slower than someone driving normally with no distractions. If caught, drivers will receive a fine and penalty points on their license. (Air Force Toons comic by Austin M. May/Copyright Air Force Times, 2010/Reprinted with permission)
