RAF MILDENHALL, England – Distinguished visitors from the local community attended the Yuletide reception at RAF Mildenhall Dec. 1.

Guests were greeted by leadership from the 100th Air Refueling Wing, the 352d Special Operations Wing and the 48th Fighter Wing at RAF Lakenheath.

The Yuletide reception highlights the partnership between military and local communities.

Col.l Christopher Amrhein, 100th ARW commander, gave opening remarks and thanked all those involved in hosting the event. Amrhein introduced Col. Matthew Smith, 352 SOW commander and mission partner.

“People are more important than hardware,” Smith said. “When you are talking about people, you are talking about relationships, and that is what this evening represents.”

The commanders thanked the community leaders for their friendship, support and advocacy in the communities they are representing.

“Our Airmen live in your villages, their children attend your schools and they attend your churches – they are a fundamental part of your community,” Smith explained. “It is one community with shared interests and we are able to complete our mission through the relationship that you all represent tonight.”
