RAF MILDENHALL, England – U.S. Air Forces in Europe-United Kingdom hosted their annual summer reception and welcomed a new director June 8, 2018, at Middleton Hall here.

Brig. Gen. Andrew P. Hansen arrived on station to take on his new role as USAFE-UK’s director less than two weeks ago.  He hosted a barbeque to welcome civic leaders and to discuss the unique role the U.S. Visiting Forces have throughout the United Kingdom.

The USAFE-UK director serves as the U.S. European Command’s country representative in the United Kingdom and is entrusted with maintaining the force readiness for UK based units.

“For this summer reception to be hosted so early on in General Hansen’s tenure has proven beneficial to both the UK and US communities,” said Sal Davidson, USAFE-UK chief community relations adviser. “This early interaction has seen him meet with some key individuals who he’ll get to know well over the next two years, and this informal event has provided the perfect backdrop for nurturing those friendships.”

The spring reception was the first opportunity for Hansen to meet with British community and local military leaders.

“The reception afforded me an opportunity to meet with allies, show them what exactly our mission entails here in the United Kingdom and continue our strong partnership,” Hansen said. “I look forward to working together to continue the defense of both of our countries.”
