As I sat down in the classroom, I looked around to see 24 other Airmen also quietly looking around, none of us knowing what was in store over the next two days.

The first speaker was Chief Master Sgt. Daniel Clark, 100th Civil Engineer Squadron chief enlisted manager, and I remember him saying, β€œThe power of positive attitude provides a place for perfection.”

This statement resonated with me throughout the rest of the day, and got me thinking back on times when a positive attitude aided me into being a more productive Airman.

This was the RAF Mildenhall Airmen Enhancement Seminar Feb. 26-27, 2019, which aimed to teach Airmen – between the ranks of airman to senior airman – knowledge and skills essential to progressing in their Air Force career.

Although there is a gap between Basic Military Training and Airman Leadership School, this course filled in that gap, making it easier for junior enlisted Airmen to transition to the rank of non-commissioned officer.

As a senior airman testing for promotion this year, I was able to find a lot of value within the course and highly encourage other Airmen to attend this seminar.

After hearing from these speakers, I now feel more confident in furthering my Air Force career, and plan to use the information I learned to improve study skills for promotion test, leadership in the workplace and even finances at home.

One of the most important lessons I learned from the course was the impact I can make on my fellow Airmen by sharing the same information that has been passed down by leaders who have already been in our position.

The opportunity given to us to go to the seminar included invaluable experience through the eyes of our own enlisted leaders, which is useful for every junior enlisted Airmen interested in growing in all aspects of their Air Force career.
