Two goals in the last three minutes from Javier Romero gave the 100th Force Support Squadron a narrow 3-2 victory during an indoor soccer match against the 95th Reconnaissance Squadron/ 488th Intelligence Squadron, March 5, 2013, at the Northside Fitness Center, RAF Mildenhall, England.

The game started brightly for the 100th FSS when Shane Howe opened the scoring after three minutes when his left-foot shot found the back of the net. Eight minutes later, Howe almost doubled his team's lead, but his shot came back off the post. Then 100th FSS's Lawrence Ballinger, from Vieva, Fla., saw his shot crash against the bar.

But the 100th FSS were not having it all their own way as Zach Stevens, from Brighton, Mich., and Jose Zambrano, from Teaneck, NJ, linked well upfront for the 95th RS/488th IS and came close to getting their team back in the game. But Joshua Boisvert, in goal for the 100th FSS, was in fine form, blocking every shot that came his way.

With a few minutes remaining in the first half, Steve Bain came close to scoring a second for the 100th FSS but his low shot clipped the post.

The half time score was 95th RS/488th IS 0, 100th FSS 1.

The second half started off with Christopher Klare from College Station, Texas, looking like a real threat for the 95th RS/488th IS. Every time he got the ball on target, he was denied time and time again by Boisvert, who was having a great game in goal.

Twelve minutes gone and Javier Romero, from Riverside, Calif., had the ball in the back of the net. However his goal was disallowed for stepping inside the goal area.

The 95th RS/488th IS did get their equalizer a minute later when Boisvert was finally beaten by a shot from Marc Sica, a native of Las Vegas, Nev.

With time running out, Romero scored to give the 100th FSS a 2-1 lead with three minutes to go. Seconds later the 95th RS/488th IS hit back as Zambrano, who was working tirelessly for the team, got his rewards when he fired the ball home from close range to tie the game at 2-2.

With a minute left and the game heading for a draw, up stepped Romero again to score his second, and game-winning goal, which was greeted with loud applause from the 100th FSS fans.
