Neal Joiner 100th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs RAF MILDENHALL, England -- U.S. military members serving in the United Kingdom must obtain visas for their dependents, as required by agreements between the U.S. and UK. Visas are also required for U.S. civilian employees and their dependents. Every attempt must be made to secure the visas prior to arriving in the UK. A visa is required for U.S. dependents to accompany their military sponsor during their tour of duty in the UK. U.S. civilian employees and their dependents must also have visas in hand before arriving in the UK for the employee's tour of duty. Having the correct immigration status ensures that the rights and benefits extended under the NATO Status of Forces Agreement will be extended to dependents and our civilian employees. UK immigration personnel can deny entry to the UK if they suspect the traveler does not have the correct entry documents. If entry is denied, the individual may be detained or returned to the U.S. on the next available flight, at the individual's expense.
