To help validate personnel training, facilities and support plans, RAF Mildenhall received fuel from fuel trucks as part of an alternate fuel system, Dec. 19, 2012.

Traditionally, the base receives its fuel from an underground pipe that runs from a fuel facility in Thetford, England.

"Our alternate resupply method is by commercial tank truck," said Master Sgt. Joseph Braswell, 100th LRS NCO in charge fuels facilities. "We (100th Logistics Readiness Squadron/Fuels Management Flight) exercise 'alternate resupply capability' to validate personnel training, facilities and support plans to ensure the base maintains the capability to continue to receive jet fuel in the event that we lose the capability to use the pipeline."

The alternate resupply capability is performed annually.
