CLC helps civilians to improve careers Published Nov. 21, 2012 By Senior Airman Ethan Morgan 100th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs RAF MILDENHALL, England -- Every third Thursday of the month, the 100th Air Refueling Wing hosts the Civilian Leadership Council in the wing conference room at 1 p.m. The CLC's monthly meeting allows all interested Department of Defense civilian employees to meet, discuss and receive assistance in planning their career development. The council's purpose is to advise DOD civilians how to posture personnel for possible changes to the work force, to promote the development and reputation of the civilian workforce, and to provide networking and mentoring opportunities. "If I can get people to just stop and take a second to think about what they want to do with their career, then I have succeeded in my objective," said Robert Rushing, 100th Mission Support Group deputy director for installation support. Rushing leads the council and works to advise attending members how to plan their career, develop professional credentials, review Air Force guidance documents, and acquire the tools and resources they will need to progress and succeed in their career. "The CLC helped me to understand the leadership roles on the civilian side of the Air Force, and how we benefit and improve the Air Force mission," said Abubaqr Rasool, 100th Operations Group project officer. "The council taught me how to progress and advance in my career so that I could be a better asset to the Air Force."
