It was all fun and games for Team Mildenhall during the Marauder Melee sports day event which took place June 21.

The day contained three different events beginning with Wingman Day activities within the squadrons, followed by a commander's all-call which led straight into the sports day activities.

The activities began with an all-call followed by a unit formation fun run. After the run, a free burger burn, sponsored by the 100th Force Support Squadron and Top 3, took place near the Hardstand Fitness Center parking lot. Other activities included team sports such as volleyball, dodgeball, an obstacle course, bowling and a fitness challenge. Individual sports including a rock-climbing wall, ping pong, tennis and a welly toss were also held.

More than 300 Team Mildenhall personnel participated in the 11 different sporting events.

"The event was great. It brought Airmen from different parts of the base together to have fun," said Senior Master Sgt. Randy Walton, RAF Mildenhall Top 3 president.

Each individual and team who signed up for an event earned participation points for their squadron. Those who placed in the top three of each event earned additional points.

At the end of the day, Col. Christopher Kulas, 100th Air Refueling Wing commander, presented awards to those who placed in the top three of each sporting event.

The 100th Communication Squadron took the top prize, the Marauder Cup, for earning the most points overall.

This was the first year the Marauder Melee was held and those coordinating it hope it won't be the last.

"It took all of Team Mildenhall to make the event as successful as it was," said Matt Driver, 100th FSS and one of the event coordinators. "We look forward to making next year's Marauder Melee bigger and better."
