RAF Mildenhall's 'map-makers' provide infrastructure information for command, control, base
RAF MILDENHALL, England – Senior Airman Erik Hollomon, 100th Civil Engineer Squadron Geobase flight, checks the scale on a drainage map, to ensure everything is accurate before he inputs the information into the flight’s map database April 16, 2012, at Building 680. In turn, the information helps to produce vital maps of every area on base, including buildings, electrical points, plumbing, fire hydrants and grassy areas. The information is used for many things including command and control for real-world and exercise incidents, road closures, and planning for new buildings. (U.S. Air Force photo/Karen Abeyasekere)
