Air Force Assistance Fund campaign kicks off Published March 28, 2012 By Staff Report 100th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs RAF MILDENHALL, England -- This year's Air Force Assistance Fund campaign has begun, and will run until May 4; Team Mildenhall's goal is to raise $59,475. The AFAF raises funds for charitable organizations that provide support to the Air Force family in need. These organizations are: · Air Force Villages · Air Force Aid Society · General and Mrs. Curtis E. LeMay Foundation Society · Air Force Enlisted Village The theme for 2012 is "Commitment to Caring," and reflects the missions of these Air Force charities. "The Air Force Assistance Fund was established to provide an annual effort to raise funds for the charitable affiliates that provide support to the Air Force family in need," said Capt. John Cordova, 351st Air Refueling Squadron and installation project officer for AFAF. "Each (organization) helps Air Force members with aid in an emergency, with educational needs, or to have a secure retirement home for widows or widowers of Air Force members in need of financial assistance. "At Mildenhall alone last year, AFAS gave nearly $65,000 in emergency assistance," he said. "Everyone knows someone that has been positively affected by one of these charities, so now is the time to give back and show a renewed commitment to caring." There are several ways to contribute to AFAF, including one-time cash payments and monthly payroll deductions.
