The 100th Air Refueling Wing Tax Center will open its doors Feb. 1, to assist the Team Mildenhall community with filing federal and state income tax returns.

The tax center is located in Bldg. 424 and is open by appointment only beginning Feb. 1 through June 15, Monday through Thursday, between 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Members are reminded to bring all tax-related information to their appointments, including:

· W-2s, 1099s, 1098s and interest/dividends on checking/savings regardless of amount
· Social security cards or individual tax I.D. numbers for all persons on the tax return. Military members will be verified by CAC and W-2 and/or previous year tax return.
· Proof of identity such as drivers license or other Government-issued picture identification.
· Bank details for direct deposit/debit, but void check works best.

Most taxpayers must file their taxes by April 17, and if any are due, it must be paid by this date or a penalty may be added. Certain taxpayers outside the U.S. may have the deadline extended until June 15, and special rules apply for individuals serving or returning from combat zones.

Although volunteer income tax assistance (VITA) representatives are trained and certified by the Internal Revenue Service, there may be some aspects of a member's taxes that will be out of scope for the VITA program. In the event taxes fall into that category, the tax center will refer the member to a taxpreparer for hire available in the area or an online service.
The tax center runs with the help of volunteers from a Team Mildenhall pool of military members, civilians and dependants. If interested in assisting other of Team Mildenhall, please contact the tax center. Training will be provided so no prior experience or knowledge is necessary.

To schedule an appointment, contact the tax center at DSN 238-1978 or send an email to 100arw.taxcenter@mildenhall.af.mil. Military members can also complete their taxes online using www.irs.gov and www.militaryonesource.com and its recommended tax programs.
