Patriot Day marks 10th anniversary of Sept. 11

Patriot Day here is scheduled for Sept. 9 and marks the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

To commemorate the anniversary, a 30-minute event will be held here at 8:30 a.m. outside the Bob Hope Community Center, at Patriot Park (or inside in the case of bad weather).

The order of events is as follows:

8:30 a.m. Opening narration/protocol statement
8:33 a.m. Honor Guard posts the colors
8:36 a.m. National anthems
8:41 a.m. Chaplain invocation
8:43 a.m. Guest speaker (Col. Kulas, 100th Air Refueling Wing commander)
8:46 a.m. Moment of Silence (initiated by ringing of ceremonial fire bell)
8:47 a.m. Reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance by children
8:48 a.m. Firefighter's Prayer and Police Prayer
8:50 a.m. Closing remarks by Maj. Gen. Mark Zamzow
8:51 a.m. Conclusion of ceremony

Please note, the roads running up to the roundabout in front of and beside the BHCC will closed for the duration of the event, so plan for an alternate route to the Exchange and commissary or the parking lots for the BHCC and Galaxy Club.
