The British-American Committee here has launched the community relations awards program to recognize efforts between U.K. and U.S. individuals and groups who have enhanced community relations.
"The community relations awards demonstrate the high esteem in which the local community holds our American guests," said Sheila Bailey, British-American Committee chairman. "These awards are an excellent opportunity for both parties to celebrate the contribution of those who enhance the excellent relationship between our two communities."

The awards period will run throughout the year and anyone, from on or off base, can nominate someone that they feel has contributed to British-American community relations and made a difference.

The five awards categories are:
· U.K. Individual (or couple)
· U.S. Individual (or couple)
· U.K. Group
· U.S. Group
· Young Person (Under 18)

Submissions will be presented at the bi-monthly British-American Committee meetings for consideration and if selected, they will be recognized by presentation of a certificate and coin from the chairman and wing commander.

"These awards recognize individuals, couples and groups that epitomize the strong relations between Americans and our British hosts, and through them those bonds are further strengthened," said Col. Chad Manske, 100th Air Refueling Wing commander. "By awarding a specially designed community relations coin, we're communicating to the recipient via longstanding military traditions that these awards are truly for demonstrated excellence."

To nominate someone, provide background information about the person or group's contribution, and send submissions to the 100 Air Refueling Wing community relations adviser, Sal Davidson, via e-mail at sal.davidson@mildenhall.af.mil. There are no deadlines or specific format guidelines.
