RAF MILDENHALL, England -- Contractors pour wet concrete into a base which will form a pad for a new concrete batching plant here March 24, 2011. The plant now homes large items of equipment to mix concrete, enabling it to be mixed on site, rather than at an off-base location then be brought to RAF Mildenhall by truck. RAF MILDENHALL, England -- A razorback screed roller spins round as it gets pulled along wet concrete here to smooth it out March 24, 2011. The area is being transformed into a batching plant to mix concrete on base, rather than at an off site location. A storage area, mixing plant and silos were also added on site. About 2.4 British tons (2240 pounds) of concrete can be mixed in about 30 seconds, and having the plant on base will help speed up projects including the hardstands, which will be resurfaced later this year.
