Tax season is in full swing and the 100th Air Refueling Wing Tax Center is ready to provide the assistance needed to get Team Mildenhall's taxes done.

"The tax center is a volunteer income-tax-assistance program provided by the [100th Air Refueling Wing] Legal Office in coordination with the Internal Revenue Service," said Tech. Sgt. Moses Palaruan, 100th ARW Legal Office NCO in charge of the tax center.

The first step customers should do is to contact the tax center and pick up an intake form. By answering the questions on the form, individuals will see what documents they need to provide to the tax center.

"We offer a drop-off service," said Krista Kenney, 100th ARW Legal Office Tax Center contact representative. "This allows those crunched for time and unable to get away from work due to manning, to leave their forms with us and we will communicate via e-mail."

The form can be dropped off with the required documents or an appointment can be made to sit down with a tax representative. The tax center also needs valid identification for the person filing and social security cards for all individuals on the taxes.

Volunteers for this program go through extensive training to ensure the accuracy of their work.

"Each Unit Tax Representative or Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Representative will need to complete four certifications provided by the IRS before assisting at the tax center," said Sergeant Palaruan.

Volunteers take about 40 hours of online training from the IRS website and then receive an additional week of in-class instruction from an IRS representative to get certified.

"We really appreciate the volunteers and the work they are doing," said Ms. Kenney.

The tax center is located on the second floor of Building 242. Their business hours are
Mondays through Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m., and Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon. They also allow walk ins for airman 1st class and below from noon to 4 p.m. on Thursdays.
