RAF Mildenhall's Gateway Dining Facility is now offering a specialty menu item that will help Airmen to cut calories and stay fit in the New Year.

During a food tasting event held Feb. 4, the facility unveiled a selection of nutritious wraps that come in one of four varieties, appropriately named the Marauder, Box "D", Maintainer, and Refueler.

Col David Doe, commander of the 100th Mission Support Group, and Maj Chris Hageman, commander of the100th Force Support Squadron, were among the first to sample the delicious displays of cheese, turkey, roast beef and ham-filled samples.

At 288 calories and only 3 grams of fat, the "Refueler" is the Gateway's featured menu item that promotes the healthier choice brand for EUCOM's Healthy Lifestyles Initiative.

HLI is an umbrella awareness initiative to promote existing programs, events and activities that impact healthy living. "This is part of a much larger push to align our 100th FSS services with Air Force brands that offer comprehensive and accessible programs to help support and sustain the resilient lifestyles of our Airmen," says Major Hageman, 100th FSS commander.

Gateway Dining is among the very first in the United Kingdom, and possibly all of Europe, to co-brand EUCOM's Healthy Lifestyles Initiative which was announced in January.

The FSS will begin co-branding the HLI logo with fitness, nutrition, Outdoor Recreation, Youth Sports, and other squadron-wide activities. Additionally, the brand encompasses spiritual, emotional and wellness programs offered Air Force wide.

RAF Mildenhall's Gateway Dining Facility and its sister facility, the Hardstand Cafe, has led the charge to incorporate nutrition standards throughout 100th FSS facilities. It is now among the first Food Service programs to add HLI to their list of brands.

Gateway Dining was instrumental in the development of 100th FSS' Healthy & Fit For Life campaign which is a quality of life initiative that successfully incorporated standardized labeling and calorie counts into all 100th FSS food operations.
