The PT Pacer Plus program can assist military members in passing their bi-annual fitness test.

"It's a program offered to provide help to active duty members -- enlisted and officer alike -- with their fitness assessment run," said Senior Airman Carlos Morales, 100th Force Support Squadron fitness specialist.

Military members who wish to have a pacer for their upcoming fitness assessment can sign up to be paired with a volunteer pacer, who will push them to meet a better run time.

Essentially, the pacer is only scheduled to meet the member for their test, however prior practice is encouraged.

"If the pacer runs with the tester beforehand, they can get a feel for the individual's fitness level," said Airman Morales.

The program began in November 2010. Since then, there has been little participation, but those who have tested with an assigned pacer have increased their run times and passed their physical assessment.

Participants can sign up to be a pacer or to request pacer assistance at both the Northside and Hardstand Fitness Centers.
