There has recently been an increase in the number of reports from DoD members of suspicious individuals soliciting products and donations for charitable organizations in the Mildenhall Village area.

These solicitors are failing to provide proper identification and appear to not fit the role they are claiming to take. These solicitors have taken great interest in residences occupied by U.S. military members.

On one occasion, the solicitor specifically asked the resident which homes in the neighborhood are occupied by pilots. Suffolk Constabulary has no evidence that DoD personnel are being specifically targeted by individuals posing as solicitors.

They advise the following:

1. Do not let the person into your home.

2. Do not give out any personal information.

3. If you are interested in the product they are selling (if they are legitimate). Ask for an office number for the company and call to establish they are who they say they are.

4. If at any stage you are not happy with the person... Call the local UK police (unless on the base then it would be MOD Police) to ensure the matter is investigated as a crime. There is a national database for this type of offence.

Report suspicious activity near the bases to the Eagles Eyes Line at:

RAF Mildenhall: On Base DSN: 238-2667 or COMM: 01638-54-2667

RAF Lakenheath: On Base DSN: 226-3937 or COMM: 01638-52-3937
