CFC-O campaign extended to Dec. 15, provides additional opportunity to donate Published Dec. 9, 2010 By Staff Reports 100th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs RAF MILDENHALL, England -- Department of Defense military and civilian personnel continue to give back to help people and communities in need in military communities, across the nation and around the world. Having started Oct. 4, the campaign has been extended to Dec. 15, allowing those who haven't yet given, the opportunity to donate. To date, 6413 people within U.S. Air Forces in Europe have donated $1,477,916.84, with a 97 percent contact rate. "Military personnel (at RAF Mildenhall) pledged more than $15.6 million in 2009, and we'd like to meet and exceed that goal this year," said Capt. Sterling Boyer, 100th Operations Support Squadron, adding that the CFC is the only authorized solicitation of Federal employees in their workplaces on behalf of approved charitable organizations. More than 2,300 charities are listed online and in the CFC booklet, including religious groups, injured soldier foundations and many others that are essential to the well-being of people around the world. "I personally donate every year to the Mr. Holland Foundation, which gives money to struggling music programs throughout the U.S.," he said. RAF Mildenhall has met the CFC-O goal of 100 percent contact, and Captain Boyer said additionally the base has donated more than $144,000 from 24 percent of the people on base. "All of the CFC team would like to thank the individuals for taking the time to give to charities that they personally have some connection to," he said. For those who haven't yet donated to CFC-O, there are several ways to give money: each squadron has a unit representative who can provide a donation card to give either a one-time or monthly withdrawal from pay checks. Alternatively, members can donate online at https://www.cfcoverseas.org/donate/, or support local overseas military communities through Family Support and Youth Programs.
