4th Annual Car & Bike Show Features a Drive on the Flight Line Published Sept. 10, 2010 100th Force Support Squadron RAF MILDENHALL, England -- The RAF Mildenhall Arts & Crafts Complex parking lot will soon feature something other than the usual minis and SUVs that are parked during a regular work day. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 11, the 100th Force Support Squadron will host a combined Car & Bike Show and Home Made Crafts Fair that creative types of all ages and interests can appreciate. This is the fourth year the Bob Hope Community Center has been involved in running the Car & Bike Show and the first year the show has opened to artists and crafters of all genres. The event offers owners the opportunity to display the bikes and cars on which they spend precious time and energy to keep in pristine condition. Participants compete for prizes in various categories to include best in show. A special component of this year's show is the addition of the flight line to the schedule of events. The flight line drive begins at 2:30 p.m. with 100th Security Forces Squadron volunteers leading a parade of 15 car show vehicles and their owners who will take advantage of the rare opportunity for personal vehicles to drive on the flight line. The owners will drive in formation behind the SFS vehicle along the flight line route and then back to the Car Show parking lot. Stephanie Lown has been the Activity Manager for BHCC since the inception of the event. "Each year the show gets better and better," says Ms. Lown. Enthusiasts have a chance to talk to vehicle owners from on and off base and make contacts with specialized groups. This year includes activities for kids and is a free and fun day out for the entire family. "The A&C has carnival type mini fun games and craft making to keep the kids busy while mum and dad have a wander through the show," says Beth Cooper, Activity Manager for the Arts & Crafts Complex. The music and retail shop, framing, and engraving are all open for business. The 100th FSS Booster Club who will be selling refreshments such as burgers and hot-dogs. The RAFM 2010 Car & Bike Show and Home Made Crafts Fair is supported by contributions from AAFES, Mildenhall Military Car Sales, and Keesler Federal Credit Union.
