100th ARW community awareness notice: Force Protection vigilance

  • Published
  • 100th Air Refueling Wing Antiterrorism Force Protection Office
This is a reminder that terrorists can strike anywhere and at anytime without prior
warning.

Those who oppose the United States and our allies are constantly planning
and exploring new ways to conduct successful attacks. Recent foiled attempts have
demonstrated the use of smaller scale independent operations which utilize creative
devices to bypass detection capability.

Although there is no intelligence to indicate aspecific attack, against a specific target; extremist groups still remain focused onconducting attacks against western interests if presented with an opportunity. Terrorist actions may include but are not limited to: suicide operations, hijackings, bombings,or kidnappings.

We continue to ask Team Mildenhall personnel to always remain cognizant of their surroundings and report all suspicious activity to Security Forces.

Emergency Contact Numbers: Local Constabularies (999 Emergency) or the
Security Forces Control Center (911 Emergency and 238-2667/RAFM and 226-
2333/RAFL for non-emergencies).

Quick Tips for Safety and Security
All personnel are reminded to increase situational awareness at all times and to remember safe and simple individual protective measures such as:
1. Be alert of your surroundings and cautious of your conversation while utilizing public transportation or when in public venues. Practice good OPSEC.
2. Remain alert for suspicious packages or persons and report all suspicious activity to the Security Forces ControlCenter.
3. Know the location of emergency exit points from buildings and become versed in your unit's evacuation plans.
4. Exercise caution when traveling to large cities to prevent becoming collateral damage in the event of a terrorist act.
5. Maintain 100 percent passport/ID card accountability.
6. Notify your Chain of Command of travel plans ensuring they have an accurate means of contacting you in case of emergency.
7. Do not display large sums of money.
8. Try to stay low key as much as possible. Don't dress in a manner in which you stand out ... blend in.
