New Air Force legal assistance Web site available now

RAF MILDENHALL, England --  How many times have you visited a legal office to obtain a will or other legal documents, only to realize after arriving that you need to gather more information or documents from home, or simply need to speak with your spouse about an issue?

To minimize multiple visits, the next time you need a will, power of attorney, or just have a legal question, visit https://aflegalassistance.law.af.mil.

On the Web site, you can read general information on an array of legal issues, and fill out worksheets for power of attorneys and wills from the convenience of your own home, without a CAC card.

You will input the information for a power of attorney or will, and receive a ticket number. You must take this ticket number to the RAF Mildenhall Legal Office, where your documents will be created. You cannot print any legal documents directly from the Web site.

The Air Force JAG Corps unveiled the new Air Force Legal Assistance Web site at RAF Mildenhall in 2010. The site's features include:

· Legal Topics: Short papers on common legal assistance topics such as wills and family law issues. It also contains links to other helpful sites.

· Legal Worksheets: Access to online questionnaires for wills, living wills, and powers of attorney. After completing the online worksheet, the Web site provides you a unique "ticket number." Data entered by you is secure and may be accessed only after you visit your local legal office and provide your ticket numbers to legal office personnel.

· Online Survey: Following a visit to the legal office, you are encouraged to provide feedback concerning the professionalism and helpfulness of your legal professionals.

While the Web site increases convenience for clients, you should note that the information on the site is for education and information purposes only. The site cannot replace consultation with your local JAG, and you should never rely solely on the Web site when making decisions. Additionally, the site is designed for client convenience, but you are not required to use it prior to visiting the legal office.
