Air Force Ball to honor present, past, future Published July 9, 2010 By Staff Reports 100th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs RAF MILDENHALL, England -- Organizers are preparing for this year's joint RAFs Mildenhall and Lakenheath Air Force Ball which is scheduled for Sept. 11 in Hangar 814 on RAF Mildenhall. The Menu The ball will be catered for the first time by an off base catering service. The feast will include kilin smoked salmon, with pickled cucumber salad, topped with caper and lemon dressing for an appetizer. Some pan fried chicken in calvados cream sauce and button onions and mushrooms will serve as the main course, followed by a traditional Air Force birthday cake for dessert. A vegetarian option will include a goat cheese and onion tart with sweet and sour beetroot for appetizer and aubergine rolls filled with spiced couscous and feta cheese in a tomato and roasted pepper sauce for the main dish. Every meal will be served with potatoes and minted broad beans and peas along with dinner coffee. Entertainment Either the U.S. Air Forces in Europe soft rock band or the USAFE jazz band will perform at the ball. Several aircraft will also be on display for photo opportunities during the event. Photography services will be provided by an on-site contracted photographer who will capture the event for individuals for a fee. Tickets Ticket prices and sale dates are yet to be determined; however, Airmen should keep their eyes out for their squadron ticket sale representatives.
