Remembering Dorothy Height
By presidential proclamation, the flag of the United States is being flown at half staff at the White House and all public buildings and grounds, military posts, naval stations and vessels as a mark of respect for the memory of Dorothy Height. Ms. Height, a social worker and activist, was the president of the National Council of Negro Women for four decades, and is often referred to as the "godmother of the women's movement."
