It's that time of year again, and in an effort to maintain a clean and professional appearance, there will be a base-wide cleanup the week of May 3 through 7.

Every year, the 100th Civil Engineer Squadron organizes a Team Mildenhall spring cleaning, so we can all focus on sprucing up our work and common areas. The clean-up will include each squadron or organization's area of responsibility, facility grounds maintenance, refuse collection and finally, CE will sweep parking lots during non-duty hours.

Beginning May 3, the base will be separated into AORs for each unit to patrol and collect
debris. Unit representatives will organize the patrols and ensure their areas are clean. There will be dumpsters located in the parking lot near Building 778 and also in the parking lot north of Building 680. Facility managers are responsible for establishing patrols to ensure the area around their buildings is cleaned up to 50 feet from each facility.

That includes sweeping debris into the streets for pickup by CE sweepers. Yard debris should be bagged and placed on the curb May 3 before 3p.m. The 100th CES will perform vehicle patrols to collect all bagged yard debris from the curbs to facilitate transport and removal.

To assist facility occupants, the CE Self-Help store in Building 604, has tools and equipment for facility managers to sign out. There are shovels, rakes, brooms, garden hoses and other supplies at your disposal.

Supplies are limited and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Areas which consist of puzzle block or brick walk ways cannot be pressure washed because the sand between the bricks will be washed away creating an unstable walking surface.

Those who come across something beyond their capability should contact the CES customer service desk at DSN 238-5625.

Recyclable materials must be taken to the base recycling center in Building 818 or the appropriate satellite locations. Cardboard, paper, plastic and scrap metal is accepted at the recycling center. If you have questions or need more information as to what they take, contact Robert Pool at DSN 238-5551.

Hazardous waste should be taken to the Base Hazardous Waste Accumulation point, for more information contact Sandy Sanderson at DSN 238-4993.

Scrap wood and electrical items that were government issued need to be taken to base supply and Neil Staden is the POC at DSN 238-2316. Any household and non-government issued items can be taken to the Eleveden/Brandon Recycling Centre which is located on the A1065.

Ensuring the right material goes to the right location will make it easier for you to dispose of it, and will help the entire cleanup process go much smoother.

Currently, the base spends $10 thousand annually for removing items dumped on base illegally, that's your tax dollars down the drain.

The 100th CES will sweep all base parking lots on May 3 and 4  from 6 p.m.until 6 a.m. the next day. All vehicles must be out of the parking lots in order for them to be swept completely.

We need the entire base to make Team Mildenhall's "Spring Cleaning" a success, so grab your gloves and lets get dirty together!
