RAF Mildenhall public Web site, illustrative photographer named best in Air Force

The 100th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs office produces the best Web site in theĀ  United States Air Force - so said a panel of judges in the 2009 Air Force Media Contest April 7.

Staff Sgt. Christopher L. Ingersoll, also placed first for his graphic illustration concerning responsible drinking.

Both the Web site and Sergeant Ingersoll will go on to represent the U.S. Air Force in the Department of Defense Thomas Jefferson Awards contest against winners from the Army, Navy, Marines and Coast Guard.

The Web site and graphic were among five categories to compete at the Air Force level - others were Outstanding New writer of the Year, Photojournalism, and Pictorial.

The five entries that competed at the Air Force level were among 10 U.S. Air Forces in Europe Media competition awards also won by the 100th ARW Public Affairs staff.

Those USAFE awards include:

1st place - Web-based Publication, 100th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs

1st place - Photojournalism, Staff Sgt. Tommy Trower

1st place - Art/Graphic, Staff Sgt. Christopher L. Ingersoll

1st place - Pictorial, Staff Sgt. Jerry Fleshman

1st place - Outstanding new writer, Staff Sgt. Christopher L. Ingersoll

2nd place - Print Journalist of the Year, Staff Sgt. Austin May

2nd place - News article, Tech. Sgt. Kevin Wallace

3rd place - Photographer of the Year, Staff Sgt. Jerry Fleshman

3rd place - Picture Story, Staff Sgt. Jerry Fleshman

3rd place - commentary, Staff Sgt. Austin May
