Team Mildenhall will have the opportunity to get a first-hand account of life in a World War II concentration camp in observance of Holocaust Days of Remembrance April 7.

At 1 p.m. in the RAF Mildenhall base theater, Rudi Oppenheimer, who survived the German concentration camp Bergen-Belsen, will speak about his experiences there in the mid-'40s.

Mr. Oppenheimer was in captivity from June 1943 until the Spring of 1945, about a year of that time in Bergen-Belsen.

The speech is part of a two-day remembrance of the Holocaust, which includes an essay contest, library exhibit and movies at the RAF Lakenheath theater, the times of which are yet to be announced.

Master Sgt. Ani Stubbs, Holocaust Remembrance Committee, said the observance lets people know that the horrors of "ethnic cleansing" must be addressed.

"It cannot happen again, and the world needs to work at stopping hate and discrimination," she said.
