Community Connections for March Published March 8, 2010 By the RAF Mildenhall Airman & Family Readiness Center 100th AIr Refueling Wing RAF MILDENHALL, England -- The Following classes are being offered by the RAF Mildenhall Airman & Family Readiness Center. Transition and Employment Assistance TAP WORKSHOP March 15-18, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. If you are within one year of separation or two years of retirement, this workshop is for you. TAP helps service members and their families prepare for civilian employment. Spouses are highly encouraged to attend. You must attend the pre-separation nriefing before attending TAP. PRE-SEPARATION Retirees: March 9, 16, 23, 30, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Separatees: March 11, 18, 25, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. This mandatory counseling is for retirees, up to two years from retirement and separatees up to one year prior to separation. The briefing must be completed no later than 90 days prior to separation or retirement and is a prerequisite for TAP seminar. FEDERAL EMPLOYMENT March 12, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Learn how to obtain a job within the Federal System. The workshop will cover how to prepare a resume, read job descriptions and how to make your application stand out. Readiness RETURN AND REUNION March 9, 16, 23, 30, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Mandatory for returning members. Representatives from various base agencies provide information regarding the challenges and joys of reintegration. Spouses are highly encouraged to attend. Members who bring their spouse may earn an extra day off. PREDEPLOYMENT Unaccompanied: March 10, 17, 24, 31, from 1 to 2 p.m. Accompanied March 11, 18, 25, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Unaccompanied: Tips on planning financial goals, legal support, communication with significant other/families, and other resources. Accompanied: Tips on family communication, relationships, finances, and other resources. Spouses are highly encouraged to attend. Mandatory for all deploying over 30 days. HEARTS APART DINNER March 24, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the youth center. Relocation SMOOTH MOVE March 22, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. This workshop provides information from A&FRC, Community Bank, Keesler Credit Union, Pass & Registration, Post Office, Finance, MFLC, TMO Outbound, TMO PAX, Housing, Overseas Clearance, and Tricare. This workshop is mandatory for E-4 & below, and First Duty Station Personnel, but is beneficial for all. NEWCOMER'S INTRO Day 1: March 9, 16, 23 & 30, from 7:45 a.m to 4:30 p.m. at A&FRC- Building 460 Mandatory for military in-processing. Civilian personnel and spouses are encouraged to attend. Day 2: March 11,18, & 25 from 8 a.m. to noon at thet A&FRC- Building 460 Includes drivers training and related in-processing. Mandatory for military within 14 days of arrival. Civilian personnel and spouses are highly encouraged to attend. SHIPPING YOUR PET 15 March 1 to 3 p.m. Designed to provide information to in-bound and out-bound PCSing personnel on how to ship their pets with emphasis on rules, regulations, cost & pet safety.
