Pledge program encourages saving, reducing debt, building wealth Published Feb. 23, 2010 By Staff Sgt. Austin M. May 100th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs RAF MILDENHALL, England -- Members of Team Mildenhall are invited to participate in the 2010 Military Saves Week, which allows participants to "pledge to begin saving money, reducing debt and start to build wealth." Information booths will be set up at various locations from Feb. 24 to 26, where those interested can take the pledge and be entered in drawings for prizes such as savings bonds, gift cards, free bowling and more. According to Nona Daugherty, 100th Force Support Squadron Airman and Family Readiness Center, another contest encourages participants to save money by using coupons. Between now and March 1, participants should save any receipt that shows an amount saved with coupons from any merchant. The person who saves the most during the specified time will win a prize selection, including a free massage and gift card. "We want to make sure people are aware of their finances," Mrs. Daugherty said. "We see a lot of funds mismanagement and emergencies at the A&FRC. Emergencies, especially overseas, can be really expensive, and we want to help people prepare for that if necessary." The pledge is simply a form participants fill out acknowledging their intent to save money, reduce debt and build wealth. Participation doesn't require seminar attendance or counseling, though one-on-one financial management counseling is available through the A&FRC. The booths will be set up in the following locations: Feb. 24, 3 to 5 p.m. - Both RAF Mildenhall fitness centers Feb. 25, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. - RAF Mildenhall commissary Feb. 26, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. - RAF Mildenhall bowling center For more information, call DSN 238-3406.
