It is the policy of the Government of the United States to provide equal opportunity in federal employment regardless of race, color, religion, sex (to include sexual harassment), age, national origin, and physical or mental disability, and to promote the full realization of equal employment opportunity through a continuing affirmative program in each executive department and agency.

This policy of equal employment opportunity applies to, and must be an integral part of, every aspect of personnel policy and practice in the employment, development, advancement, and treatment of civilian employees in the federal government.

It is the policy of RAF Mildenhall that total personnel management is accomplished in a manner that is free from any form of discrimination. Anyone civilian who believes they have been discriminated against because of their race, color, religion, sex, sexual harassment, age, national origin, physical or mental disability, or based on reprisal for having participated at any stage of the EEO complaint process should contact an EEO counselor within 45 calendar days of the date of the incident that gave rise to the complaint or, if it is a personnel action, within 45 calendar days of the effective date of that personnel action, or within 45 days after perceiving that the personnel action appears to have been an act of discrimination.

A complaint may also be processed under the negotiated grievance procedure or appealed to the Merit Systems Protection Board. The specifics on utilizing either of those procedures may be obtained from the Civilian Personnel Office (Employee-Management Relations).

The complainant must choose one avenue; the EEO complaint process, negotiated grievance procedure, or MSPB appeal. The complainant may raise the issue of discrimination when filing a grievance or appealing an action to the MSPB.

The time limits are 30 calendar days from the date of the action being grieved or 30 calendar days from the effective date of the decision appealed.
