The Athletic Image, a new facility operated by the 100th Force Support Squadron, opened its doors for business Feb. 2, offering Team Mildenhall a new option for purchasing athletic apparel and equipment.

In the building formerly occupied by Information, Tickets and Travel, shoppers can find name-brand apparel and footwear, RAF Mildenhall-branded items and small, personal athletic equipment such as mouth guards and sweatbands. Some of those items were previously available at the 100th FSS Sports Store.

The idea behind the move was to bring the athletic equipment to an area with more foot traffic, making it more accessible to those who may be visiting the BXtra or Commissary, according to Debbie Southee, 100th FSS.

The old location still offers a wide variety of musical instruments, DVD and Blu-Ray movies and video games, and will soon be the home of the base frame shop. The building, located on Ohio Avenue on the north side of base, is now referred to as the Arts and Crafts Center.

In addition to athletic apparel and equipment, the Athletic Image offers pre-engraved cricket bats, glassware, soccer team memorabilia and dart supplies.

The new store is open Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturdays, family and goal days from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The shop is closed Sundays and holidays.
