A great individual goal by Steve Alverson sent his team, the 488th Intelligence and 95th Reconnaissance Squadron, to the intramural soccer championship, at the Hardstand Fitness Center Nov. 18.

The game kicked off in very gusty conditions, not ideal for playing soccer, and both teams really struggled to adapt to the conditions. The 100th Force Support Squadron playing against the wind in the first half tried to get the ball down and play with Philip Rosen and Jonathan Fraher always looking dangerous. But late on in the first half, Alverson took off on his run beating two players and coolly slotted the ball in to the back of the net.

In the second half, the 488th ISS/95th RS soaked up all that 100th FSS threw at them and held on to take their place in the championship game where they will face the 100th Logistics Readiness Squadron on Nov. 19 at noon. The 488th ISS/95th RS have come a long way after battling through the play-off game and now defeating the top place team.
