Every dog has his day, and this year that day is Oct. 12.

The RAF Feltwell Veterinary Treatment Facility's 2nd Annual Petfest is a day set aside for pet owners to come out and show off their pets while interacting with other animal lovers, said Shai-Anne Gallant, RAF Feltwell vet clinic animal health technician.

The festival is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the vet clinic, and will include a pet costume contest, pet-owner lookalike contest, "doggy treat" bake sale, military working dog demonstration and a booth where pet owners can have their portraits taken with their animals. The first 50 people to arrive with pets will also receive a free treat bag.

The festival is free to attend, and the veterinary clinic will have a food both to raise funds for Cats Protection, a local non-profit organization that provides health care and homes for stray or unwanted cats.

According to Army Capt. Erin Brown, Army veterinarian, all pets must be on a leash while at the event. Cats are welcome, but the captain warned the vet clinic staff anticipates a mostly dog turn out.

Pet owners will be expected to clean up after their own pets, but waste-disposal containers will be available on-site. Tents will be set up at the site, so the festival will be held rain or shine.
