Changing seasons: Road conditions key to driving in inclement weather Published Sept. 23, 2009 100th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs RAF MILDENHALL, England -- As the season begins to change, Team Mildenhall is reminded to be aware of changing road conditions. In the event of inclement weather, weather delay and early release procedures are as follows. Road Conditions: Green: There are no indications of weather hazards that might affect your commute to and from work. There is no delay in reporting for duty. Yellow: Weather conditions warrant the use of caution during your commute. Pre-coordinate with or contact your supervisor or commander to determine whether delayed reporting is appropriate for you. In general, this should allow personnel to drive to work in the daylight after the roads have received initial treatment. If living near base (on base or in one of the adjacent communities -- Beck Row, West Row or Mildenhall), then personnel are expected to be at work at the normal time or as close as possible. If living further out, personnel are allowed more time to report to work, based on personal situation and local conditions. Red: Weather has caused the driving conditions and roads to be either extremely hazardous or impassable. Pre-coordinate with or contact your supervisor or commander to determine whether you should delay reporting or stay home. Security Forces will recommend road condition changes to the 100th Mission Support Group commander or a designated representative. When weather conditions dictate a change in driving conditions or school delays or closures, an automated notification will be sent by the Command Post to all wing, group and squadron commanders and directors. Commanders and directors can direct a recall or direct delayed reporting at their discretion based on mission needs. Therefore reporting instructions will vary depending on unit, job, and place of residence. To find out the current driving condition and to check the status of school delays or closures, the first option should be to call the weather line at DSN 238-3541 (or commercial 01638-543541). The information will also be broadcast on local radio stations. Alternatively, for road conditions access this Web from work or home. The current road condition is listed in the upper right corner of the homepage.
