Temporary glitch in system adds steps to leave approval process

A glitch in the system Airmen use to manage leave is requiring them to take additional steps to complete the leave process.

The issue, which is being experienced Air Force-wide, prevents the system's standard automated e-mails reminding users of required actions from being sent. That means the members themselves are responsible for manually processing their requests.

According to a reference tool provided by the 100th Force Support Squadron, members should write down their tracking number when requesting new leave and provide it to their approving official. The approving official then has to manually input the number when approving the leave.

When returning from leave, the process hasn't changed. Once a person returns, they still fill out the necessary online form stating any changes to their leave and submit it to their approving official. The approving official then has to log into Leave Web and manually insert the tracking number to approve or disapprove the return.

"This issue is affecting the entire Air Force at the moment, so we can be sure it's being worked on at the highest level," said Staff Sgt. Nikki Holman, 100th Force Support Squadron. "For now, the workaround is taking care of the problem at a local level. As soon as the problem is worked out, we'll make sure Team Mildenhall is notified."
