Trevor Romain, an award winning children's comedian and writer, recently gave a well-received performance at the Bob Hope Community Center.

Using stories and experiences from his own childhood in South Africa, Mr. Romain got children laughing and having a good time while teaching valuable life lessons at the same time.

"It was comedy with a message," said Tech. Sgt. Abbi Cabeen, 100th Air Refueling Wing. "My children left with those stories and lessons imprinted in their minds."

From crazy adventures with African warthogs to side splitting tales about aunts with beards, Trevor Romain's wacky style seemed to really appeal to the children, according to Sergeant Cabeen

"My kids were retelling the stories for the next couple of days," she said. "I think their favorite story was the one about his camping trip with his brother who had a big head. They are still laughing at that one."

The most specific life lesson the author touched on was for children coping with parents who are deployed. He encouraged the kids to do things to that help them remember their deployed parent, and to lean emotionally on their support system.
